Blurb:

After spending over two decades disguising herself as a man to fulfill her father’s dream of having knighted sons, Lark Hawthorne is offered time away. She prefers to keep busy, but a stay at the duke’s estate might offer Lark a moment alone with the demon she’s been secretly pining over for a decade. Sinclaire is employed as a lady’s maid to the duke’s daughter and Lark has cherished every stolen glance from her over the years.

While gathering flowers to present to Sinclaire, Lark catches the woman of her affections in the middle of a terrible crime. Scandalized by what she’s seen, Lark is prepared to spurn her feelings to do the right thing, but before she’s successful, the demon threatens to reveal Lark’s secret and ruin her knighthood. It may have been her father’s decision, but becoming a knight has been the only thing standing between Lark and a loveless marriage.

When forced to choose between honoring the oath she made to the duke, or keeping her sword, she chooses her sword.

Spending her vacation perverting the course of justice is the last thing Lark expected, and she begins to wonder if it’s the sword she wants so desperately to keep at her side or Sinclaire.

This story is set in Bradford's Enchanted Forest world.

DFAK is a sapphic fantasy with an all Black cast that reads like a fairytale mixed with a dnd campaign.
